Pakistan isn’t known for its superb fielding performance, and the clash between the Peshawar Zalmi and the Quetta Gladiators during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 displayed another such occasion, where the fielder, despite having all the time and chances to run a batter out, failed to complete the mission.

Quetta continued their struggle in the season with the bat as they found themselves limping at 150 for the loss of nine wickets heading into the last over of the first innings. Ali Raza, the pacer, who had decent figures of 0/24 in three overs, was given the responsibility of a strong finish.

The fourth delivery of the over was a no-ball as Usman Tariq swung his willow to get an under-edge on the bounce to the wicket-keeper. The two batters went through the run as the throw hit Tariq while he was running between the wickets. The umpires checked the full toss and called it a no-ball.

On a free hit, none of the dismissals were activated apart from the run-out. But that delivery caused all the chaos in the middle. The length ball was steered to the backward point region as both batters found themselves in a terrible mix-up.

Watch the video here:

The fielder, who was stationed at the point region, came charging in as Tariq had come down a long way for the single, only to be sent back by his partner. The fielder picked up the ball and charged at the striker’s end. But rather than hitting the stumps, he changed his direction and had a shy at the bowler’s end. He missed it again as both batters got saved.

Peshawar Zalmi continues unbeaten PSL 2026 campaign

None of the batters for the Gladiators was able to stand up and put a big score individually as they kept losing regular wickets throughout the course of 20 overs. Hasan Nawaz, who collected 37 runs with the help of four deliveries, wasted 35 deliveries in this process as they were bundled out for just 154 runs in 20 overs. Sufiyan Muqeem finished with figures of 3/25 in four overs.
