World Cup for T20 leagues? ICC proposes new ‘World Club T20’ tournament — Here's what's being planned
Before "World Club T20," ICC tried this once already. Old Champions League T20 photos resurface as ICC explores a new global tournament for IPL, BBL & SA20 champions — here's what's reportedly being planned.

Away from the action of the ongoing ODI series between England and India, the International Cricket Council (ICC) held its annual conference in Edinburgh and discussed several important issues regarding the future of international cricket, both informally and formally in meetings, which were attended by some of the game’s most influential decision-makers, especially regarding the World Cup T20 league.
The World Cup T20 League could be an exciting prospect for modern-day fans, who want the shortest format to explore more, beyond the World Cup in two years and the franchise leagues around the globe.
ICC explores new ‘world club T20’ — A FIFA-style World Cup for IPL, BBL & SA20 Champions
A tournament that brings the top teams from the world’s domestic T20 franchise leagues is edging closer. How exciting it would be to see the four qualified teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL) facing the teams from the SA20 or the Big Bash League (BBL).
One of the reports of the BBC has claimed that the tournament could be launched in the next couple of years if a small gap in the calendar can be found. And that’s where the issue begins. In a packed schedule of the teams, with the number of franchise leagues and international games, it would be a massive challenge.

A global gathering of the franchise executives is scheduled to take place later this year, which could push the process further. The game could be shaped in the football’s governing body, FIFA, that runs the Club World Cup, as the International Cricket Council (ICC) sees it as a chance to enjoy their share in the discussion.
WTC semi-finals proposal could change how the Test Championship works
There has been no such progress on the potential expansion of the World Test Championship (WTC) teams to 12. Headed by the New Zealand board member, Roger Twose, the ICC has been working through plans to explore some new teams including Afghanistan, Ireland, and Zimbabwe.
Even though no plans for team expansion have been made, one interesting subject that gained attraction in the meetings was the chance of adding semi-finals in the WTC in order to get more interest.
