The ICC have waited for the IPL rights auction to end before disclosing details on the media rights. Bidders can bid for 16 events over the course of eight years.

The events include senior and Under-19 ICC events. The bidders can decide if they wish to secure rights for four or eight years. Star India won the rights last time and are expected to be in the running this time too.

The ICC will invite tenders on June 20th and are expected to seal the tenders by August 22nd. The recent IPL Broadcasting rights auction saw the rights go for a record-breaking sum, putting it only behind the NFL. In the current cycle, the winner will have rights for up to 306 matches over the sum of the eight years.

With a string of events coming up, the upcoming auction is likely to be highly profitable for the ICC.

For the Women’s rights, the highest bidder though may not grab the rights. The bidders are expected to present how they will promote Women’s Cricket and the one with the most promising ideas are likely to get the rights.

In the past, Women’s events were sold along with Men’s. This action has been seen as slightly devaluing the women game causing a change in the procedure for Women’s rights. . There six women’s events will feature two T20 World Cups, two Under-19 T20 World Cups, one 50-over World Cup and one T20 Champions Trophy. With multiple events up for grabs, the upcoming Auction will see a lot of competition as Indian rights are in high demand at the moment.
