IPL 2023: LSG VS CSK match abandoned due to heavy rain

In a highly anticipated match between the Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the game was unfortunately called off due to heavy rainfall at the newly built Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

The toss was delayed due to the overcast conditions, and eventually, LSG captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. CSK had a decent start with their openers, Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad, putting up a 45-run partnership before du Plessis fell to an excellent catch by LSG’s Rahul Tripathi at backward point.

However, the rain started to pour heavily just after the seventh over, forcing the players to leave the field. The covers were brought out, and the ground staff did their best to clear the water off the pitch. However, the downpour was relentless, and after waiting for over two hours, the umpires were forced to call off the match.

When the rain came, Badoni, who came in at 44 for 5, had put his team in a position of respectability on a very difficult surface.

Both LSG and CSK will receive one point each for the abandoned match, and this result does not affect their positions on the IPL points table

LSG remains in fourth place with nine points, while CSK is in second place with 11 points.

This match was crucial for both teams, as they were looking to build momentum heading into the second half of the IPL 2023 season. LSG had won their previous match against the Kolkata Knight Riders and were hoping to continue their winning streak. CSK, on the other hand, had suffered a loss to the Royal Challengers Bangalore and were looking to bounce back.

While the result was disappointing for both teams, the safety of the players and officials is of utmost importance, and it was the right decision to call off the match due to the heavy rainfall. The IPL 2023 season continues, and both LSG and CSK will be looking to win their upcoming matches to secure a spot in the playoffs.
