In Match 35 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gujarat Titans (GT) delivered a dominant performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, April 19. DC, batting first, put up a competitive total of 203 runs in their 20 overs, powered by some solid top-order batting. However, Gujarat’s Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets in a remarkable four-over spell to keep the scoring in check.

Gujarat Titans began their chase with intent, and the innings soon turned into a Jos Buttler masterclass. The English opener was in devastating form, unleashing a flurry of boundaries and keeping the pressure firmly on the Delhi bowlers. The highlight of the innings came in the 15th over, bowled by Australian speedster Mitchell Starc, who faced the full wrath of Buttler’s brilliance.

Buttler carved Starc for five consecutive boundaries in the over. He started with a lofted drive through extra cover, followed by a sliced four past backward point. A thick edge on the third ball flew to third man, and the fourth was driven past mid-off. The fifth, a short ball, was miscued but still raced away to the ropes. The over yielded 20 runs and marked a turning point in the chase.

Gujarat Titans Climb to the Top of the Table

Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 97 from 54 balls, featuring 11 fours and four sixes, falling just short of a century. Rahul Tewatia finished the job with a six and a four in the final over, clinching a seven-wicket win for Gujarat with 10 runs needed.

This clinical chase marked GT’s sixth win of the season, propelling them past DC to take the top spot in the IPL 2025 points table. The victory highlighted Gujarat’s balanced performance and Buttler’s invaluable contribution as a match-winner.
