Chennai Super Kings bowling coach addresses MS Dhoni’s return, stating it’s “above my pay grade” amid growing IPL 2026 speculation.

The injuries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 have plagued the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad. Despite that, the fans remain hopeful of former cricketer MS Dhoni's return to the team this season. While there are no clear indications of that happening anytime soon, the management has kept the discussions going around Dhoni's recovery. Apart from Dhoni, the team has suffered some serious injuries, with the latest one being Ramakrishna Ghosh.
CSK have lost players like Khaleel Ahmed, Ayush Mhatre, Nathan Ellis, MS Dhoni, and now Ghosh due to injury in this tournament. The Super Kings are still in the contest and need to win all of their upcoming matches. They will play their next match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on May 5.

Uncertainty continues around MS Dhoni’s availability amid ongoing IPL 2026 season
The IPL 2026 is not a perfect season for the Super Kings yet, as they have won just four out of nine matches so far. They can still qualify, but for that, the team will have to play their game perfectly. Meanwhile, the uncertainty around Dhoni's participation continues as the management hasn't given any clarity yet. Ahead of their DC clash, one of the senior officials mentioned that they are hoping for him to be fit during the course of the tournament.
The fans have waited patiently to see their former captain on the crease once again, but the chances are unlikely. Reports suggest that Dhoni is still recovering and will be looking forward to getting 100% fit before coming into the playing XI.
