IPL 2026: Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary issues fresh warning over ‘unauthorized people’ in team hotels
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary has issued a fresh warning over the presence of unauthorized people in the team hotels of players and officials.

Just after India’s poor result in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024/25, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came up with 10 key points for the players while travelling to the grounds for matches. They strictly issued that the players would always need to travel on the team buses.

Their BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, has again warned against these irregularities in the conduct of certain sides and the players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He has threatened to take more action in the future besides pointing fingers at the unauthorized people in the hotel rooms of players and team officials.
BCCI tightens security norms for players and franchises amid ongoing IPL 2026 season
The BCCI secretary has complained against the owners of the franchises and the players in unauthorized places and stated that an advisory on the same would be released by the governing council of the league.

“This time, we have observed various anomalies and irregularities in the conduct of certain franchises and players. So, BCCI and IPL are preparing an advisory, and we are going to release that advisory this evening because we have noticed that there are a lot of unauthorized persons who are moving along with the team members.” Saikia expressed in a statement.

“And some people who are unauthorized are coming to the hotels and to the players’ rooms or the team officials’ room, which is totally against our anti-corruption protocols.” He informed.
The cameras have found many players carrying unknown members in the team bus and even in the hotel rooms, which is a strict no-no according to the rules.
Strict warning issued against allowing unauthorized individuals inside team hotels
The 19th edition of the IPL has seen the franchises committing mistakes one after another. The Rajasthan Royals have committed the violations, from captain Riyan Parag getting penalized for vaping in the dressing room, while their manager, Romin Bhinder, was fined for using a mobile phone in the dugout during the game.

“We have also seen that certain team owners and officials are mingling with players in areas where it is not allowed. So, there are certain protocols we have to follow, and we have seen there are some dilutions. We have taken this very seriously.” Saikia informed.
“We are issuing an advisory, and it will be very strictly followed. If there is any violation hereinafter, then BCCI and IPL will take very stringent action.” He concluded.
The BCCI had recently raised objections to the girlfriend culture in the IPL, planning to draft rules against it.
