Smriti Mandhana’s friend files FIR against Palash Muchhal over alleged non-bailable offence

The renowned music composer and filmmaker, Palaash Muchhal, has found himself in another fresh legal trouble after a case was reportedly registered against him in the Sangli district of Maharashtra under the SC/ST act (prevention of Atrocities). The complaint was recently filed by Vidnyan Mane, who is the childhood friend of the Indian women’s cricketer, Smriti Mandhana. 

It has been nearly seven months before both Smriti Mandhana and Palash called off their wedding, which was scheduled for November 23, 2025. In Sangli, following the initial postponement due to the healthy issues in their families, the mutual decision was taken from both parties.

Mane alleged that he had invested money in the film project of Palash after being approached by the composer-filmmaker. But the latter never legalized it and stooped responding after a particular time.

“Palaash asked me to come on board as an investor for his movie Nazariya, after his producer’s father passed away and he left the movie midway. He promised to give me profits. He owes me 25 lakhs. I kept following up with him, but he never legalized it and after a point stopped responding.” Mane shared the news.

“When I met him, I asked him again for my money, and he made a few cattiest slurs and he also said, 'People in MP don’t even stand people like you (from your caste). He should be arrested soon. It’s nonbailable offense.” He stated.

The alleged incident was dated back in November 22, when the argument reportedly broke out between them at the toll plaza. He has accuses Muchhal of using the casteist remarks during the altercation.

“There needs to be no arrest warrant, when an act of atrocity case has been filed. But he can be arrested. We didn’t go to his place at the moment. We are currently investigating the matter, and we cannot say much.” The PI Arun Sugaonkar said as an investigation is underway.

There was the well-documented rumour of Palash cheating Smriti with the wedding choreographer being linked in the incident. That was why their wedding was postponed indefinitely in November last year. Accusations surfaced that Palash was caught in a compromising position with another woman during the wedding celebrations. 

Meanwhile, the composer’s advocate, Shreyansh Mithare, slammed Mane amid the act allegations. He addressed the ongoing controversy on his client and accused Mandhana’s friend of seeking publicity after a long wait.

“If that happened on November 22, and now we are in May, why was no complaint made until now? Earlier, he only spoke about a financial dispute, but he never brought up any allegation of caste-based remarks. This clearly shows that his intentions are not genuine and that he is merely seeking publicity. We will respond to this appropriately through legal means.” He expressed.

“He seems to think this is just a pressure tactic. The most interesting part is that the Bombay High Court summoned him twice to present his side in the defamation case, but he did not appear. Now, to create pressure so that we withdraw the defamation case or reach a settlement with him, he has filed this false atrocity case.” Muchhal’s advocate concluded.
