In Match 22 of IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs. Batting first, CSK accumulated 192/5 from 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed early on for 7 runs. However, Ayush Mhatre provided good momentum with his score of 38 from 17 balls. Moreover, Sanju Samson hit 48 runs from 32 balls. While Dewald Brevis scored 41 off 29 to keep the runs flowing.

CSK maintained their momentum in the latter overs as well, and Sarfaraz Khan scored 23 from 18 balls. Additionally, Shivam Dube scored 13* runs, and Jamie Overton (7*) finished the innings strongly. For KKR, Kartik Tyagi was the best bowler with 2/35, while Sunil Narine and Anukul Roy took one wicket each.

Chasing 193, KKR kept losing wickets and couldn’t build momentum. Finn Allen got out early, while Narine scored 24 and Ajinkya Rahane made 28. Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 27, but Noor Ahmad turned the game with 3/21 by taking key wickets. Rovman Powell (31*) and Ramandeep Singh (35) tried to fight back, but the target was too big. Anshul Kamboj took 2/32, and CSK bowlers kept things under control to win the match comfortably by 32 runs.

CSK vs KKR: Who said what after the match

Ajinkya Rahane (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain):

"Absolutely. With the ball, we did well. 190 on this wicket was very good. In the powerplay, they got 72. But pulling back things and restricting them to 190 was a fine job. I think we got only 36 in the powerplay. In the middle phase, facing spinners was challenging. We wanted one batter to bat deep and take it till the end. I think combination wise, it was good. It's tough at the moment. We are not winning matches. It's important to stay positive. We have to sit in the dressing room and talk about it. Apart from that, it's about being positive and keep the heads up. (On Kartik Tyagi) I think all credit goes to him. He's bowling good in the nets. The pace at which he is bowling is good. Game by game, he's improving. All three spinners. Also, the CSK spinners. It was not easy for the batters to hit sixes. If you bowl full, it was easy. Going across wasn't easy. Spinners from both sides bowled really well. We have to keep the head up and be positive and keep the belief."

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain):

"Feeling good. We defended a par score. The wicket drastically changed after first 7-8 overs. It started spinning and stopping a bit. So we were looking at 220-210 but then we thought anything around 180-190 would be a good score. After that we just had to get a good powerplay in bowling and it was about maintaining that run rate. It was good. Slowly it's starting to come together. Everyone knows what their role is. Which overs, what to bowl and what lengths to bowl at. They are adjusting and adapting to what team needs. We are getting better and that's a good sign of us. Since we wanted to use Veer if we were short in batting but we had it covered and Akeal coming in the 2nd innings - more of a powerplay bowler but Sunil opening the innings and the ball still gripping with 2 right handers, I thought he could still get us good overs. He bowled really well. Went under the radar. We dropped everything that came and just took one or two. It was a bit humid today so lots of sweat coming on the hands. Not an excuse but we would like to improve. As long as there is energy behind every ball, intent and attitude, we will be fine even if we drop a few. Good to be on winning side after a long time. It was getting to my head even when I was batting but last game felt a bit relaxed. I am feeling really good. Just to make sure to do whatever the team and situation needs and I am feeling really positive. Big knock is just around the corner but as long as the other guys are covering up for me, definitely I'll do it when it's needed."

Noor Ahmad (Player of the Match):

"First of all, I am really happy to contribute for my team. It was very humid tonight and there was a lot of dew. The ball was coming out well from my hand. I was trying to keep my fingers dry. It was all about hitting the right areas. I was really happy with the pitch. I think the ball was not coming on nicely onto the bat. I was trying to take advantage of it. (How much will tonight's performance give him confidence for the remainder of the season) Yeah, it gives a lot of confidence. I will try to give my best for the team and contribute whenever I can in order to help my team win. (What sort of pace was working best for him tonight?) I was trying to keep changing the pace according to the wickets. Tonight, something around 90 kmph was working for me."
