Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Titans by 99 runs in Match 30 of IPL 2026 in Ahmedabad. Batting first, MI put up 199/5 in 20 overs. Tilak Varma’s brilliant innings of 101* came off 45 balls, hitting 8 fours and 7 sixes, getting to his hundred on the last ball. Naman Dhir also played well with 45 runs, while Hardik Pandya added 15. Other batters could not contribute much.
In reply, Gujarat Titans had a terrible start and were bowled out for just 100 runs in 15.5 overs. Sai Sudharsan got out for 0 on the first ball, and Jos Buttler scored only 5. Shubman Gill made 14, while Shahrukh Khan scored 17. Rahul Tewatia (8) and Rashid Khan (4) also failed to make an impact.
Mumbai bowlers dominated completely. Jasprit Bumrah took a wicket on the first ball, and Hardik Pandya dismissed Jos Buttler early. Ashwani Kumar was the star with the ball, taking 4 wickets, including Shubman Gill. Mitchell Santner also picked up 2 wickets. GT kept losing wickets and were bowled out in 15.5 overs. Mumbai Indians dominated the match and won comfortably by 99 runs.

Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain):
"We gave away too many runs in the middle overs. I think 160-170 was par on this wicket. That happens. Lot of learning for us in this game. Small hiccup but we have a couple of games on the road so hoping to get back on the winning side. The wicket was a bit on the slower side. We didn't hit the right areas. The length ball wasn't coming as well. Some length balls were coming well and some were keeping low. We were not able to hit the length consistently in the middle overs. It was pretty similar if at all. Could have got a little bit better because there was a bit more dew when we were batting."

Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians captain):
"It is always challenging to go away and win. Ahmedabad has been tough for us as MI. We played good cricket. It feels very special as it was much needed. The kind of talent Tilak has, he does not need to worry about a lot. I just told him to watch the ball and hit the ball. The way the ball travels off his bat it is really special. It was about time that he delivered. At times, I was so loud that I got dizzy. But it was much needed for the team and for Tilak too. In 137-138 appearance, Jasprit Bumrah has bowled the first over 8 or 9 times. So it is not a Hardik Pandya problem, it is a Jasprit Bumrah problem. You use him when we need him the most, not just at the start. Today, we needed him to have an impact at the start. No one is better than him. Really amazing display by the youngsters. As a group, we needed that. Debutant Krish bowling the right areas. Ashwani picking up 4 wickets. He did that last year too. The fielding had to click. Really happy with the youngsters. Special mention to Naman too. (Is this 'that' game?) Yes."
Tilak Varma (Player of the Match):
"(On first 100 in IPL) Of course, first 100 will always be special. To be honest, it is important for us, we don't have much time from here. Every game is important for us. Last 5 games, haven't spent much time in the middle. I tried to do that. First 20 balls, I was batting ball by ball, later on, I knew what I was capable of, I did that, and I am grateful for that. You know, I was just seeing the situation, what the team needs. I was just trying to keep my head steady and following my basics. I have all the fancy shots, when the team needs, I can play those. But when you are batting under pressure, you need to back your skills and that's what I did. The way he played, was crucial for us. He batted with a lot of positive intent and then the way I played, I am really proud of myself as well."
