Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs in the 27th match of the IPL2026 in Hyderabad. SRH posted 194/9 in 20 overs having batted first. Abhishek Sharma powered on with his blazing 59 off 22 balls and got to his fifty in just 15 balls. Heinrich Klaasen also batted well, making 59 off 39 balls. CSK bowlers did well in the last overs, with Jamie Overton taking 3 wickets and Anshul Kamboj picking 2 in the final over.
Chasing 195, CSK could not build momentum as they kept losing wickets. Sanju Samson scored 7, Ayush Mhatre made 30, and Ruturaj Gaikwad added 19. Dewald Brevis got out for 0, while Short scored 34 and Shivam Dube made 21, but it was not enough. The team struggled to keep up with the required runs.
SRH bowlers bowled well and kept pressure on CSK. Ehsan Malinga claimed 3 wickets, Sakib Hussain and Shivang Kumar also picked crucial wickets. Praful Hinge kept his composure in the final over and took a wicket to end the match. CSK finished at 184/8, and SRH emerged victorious by 10 runs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings Captain):
"Definitely. Any day, I think Ravi bhai. How the powerplay went, bowling-wise for us. I was looking at something around 220-230. But you know to pull back 30 runs on this type of ground, this type of pitch, any day I would have taken less than 200. Yes, it was just about 80 runs in 10 overs. From then, it was just about building partnerships and then you know, making sure the opposition is not in the game and under pressure. Couple of overs after that changed the momentum. We scored 4 runs in the next 2 overs. I think that really helped them and we knew that, once we come into the death over it would be tough to chase 12 and 13 runs per over. Yes, I think it has been three games that the bowling unit has been delivering for us. Even today, everyone just stepped up after the powerplay. Even in the powerplay, we didn't bowl bad deliveries. Abhishek batted well and took on the bowlers. Once we got that momentum, we cashed on it. Jamie, Noor, Anshul and Gurjapneet. [On Anshul] He has been bowling well, working hard. Especially at his death bowling. You rarely get bowlers who are clear of their plans and is improving day by day."

Ishan Kishan (Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain):
"Lovely you know, when you have a bunch of great young bowlers. They are executing their plans well. They are coming up with their own plans as well. So, it's very good to see as there is less pressure on the captain to set their field because they are ahead of the game anyway. So, it was lovely to see them do their job today. Abhishek got out pretty early but still after scoring 60 odd runs, we have always ended up scoring 200, 220 to 230. You have always seen that from us. From the first three batters, one batter has always scored big runs. We were missing on that today but especially with this team and with this batting line-up, I felt that we were 15 runs short. Yeah, actually looking at them in the practice sessions, giving their best every single day. You have to trust your bowlers. This is the bunch of bowlers we have at this point of time and I think they are very much keen to do their best for the team. I just give the ball to them and let them do their job. I think that was a really good surface to bat on. That's why I think we were 35-40 runs short. But yeah, lot to learn from this game. We will try to improve on our things. To be very honest, we are not looking at the points table right now. We want to take one game at a time and then see how it goes."
Eshan Malinga (Player of the Match):
"Before the match, we as a bowling group, had a good plan. We know the Hyderabad wicket, and we know that after 10 overs the ball gets reverse. We know how to play and bowl on this kind of Hyderabad wicket, and we executed. Actually, Ishan was coming for me, and he was asking me what kind of deliveries I was going to bowl. Through the bowling mark, I decide what delivery bowl. The reverse is very important for me. Because it's a good wicket-taking delivery. If it reverses, we execute it well, then the batters struggle to hit it. Thank you so much."
