On Wednesday (7th August), India will play their last game in the ongoing Sri Lanka tour, which will be the crucial last match of the three-match bilateral ODI series. While it will be a must-win encounter for the visitors, there is a serious concern about Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s fitness.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is currently in great form with the bat. In the ongoing three-match ODI series, opener Rohit slammed powerful 50s in both matches.

However, India are currently trailing the series by 1-0. After the ODI series opener ended in a tie result, the hosts won the second game of the series by 32 runs. So, the last match of the series will be the must-win fixture for India to only save and level the series. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will win the home series by only avoiding a defeat in the series finale.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma missed the net session

Before the last match of the Sri Lanka vs India three-match ODI series, there is a major concern in the Indian camp. Some media reports suggest Rohit has some discomfort in his right thigh.

Before the ODI series finale match day, the Indian captain missed out on the net session. The Indian opener didn’t participate in batting, bowling, or fielding sessions.

There is no official news about Rohit’s fitness issue. However, due to his massive importance to the team, Rohit can ultimately be rested for the series finale if he is struggling with any injury issues.

If Rohit misses the last game of the away ODI series, his opening partner Shubman Gill will handle the captaincy role. It will be interesting to see who will open with Gill in this case and who will replace Rohit.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are eyeing their historic ODI series win against India, as they last won an ODI bilateral series against India in 1997.
