Watch: Jason Gillespie roasts Aaqib Javed as 'muppet' — Criticizes false claims on coaching tenure
Jason Gillespie roasts Aaqib Javed as a "muppet" on Fast Bowling Cartel, slamming what he calls false claims about his Pakistan Test coaching tenure — as Glenn McGrath and Damien Fleming can't stop laughing.

The former coach of Pakistan’s Test team, Jason Gillespie, criticized the director of high-performance for the PCB, Aaqib Javed, over the false claims about his coaching tenure. Gillespie disputed the remarks of Javed during the recent podcast and called him a ‘muppet’ while defending his decisions as Pakistan’s coach.
The fallout in the PCB continues more than a year after Gillespie and Gary Kirsten, the former South African player, stepped down from their respective roles. The former Australian pacer resigned as Pakistan’s red-ball coach in December 2024 and ended his eight-month stint.
Gillespie brands Aaqib Javed's comments "nonsense" — and reveals how he's ruining Pakistan's Test team
During a podcast on the Public Sports and Public YouTube channel, Javed stated that Gillespie and Kirsten lacked a strategic vision. He felt that the duo made the selectors’ job impossible and refused to listen to anyone.

“Frankly speaking, they used to overrule every selector. They weren't willing to listen to anyone. I went to Multan and spoke with Jason and Shan Masood. I asked them, what was your plan after the first Test against England? They had no plan. I said, this isn't going to work.” The former Pakistan bowler revealed.
“We need to change both the pitch and the team. We brought in the spinners; Pakistan won, and that's when things started to go wrong. He then said, I don't agree with that.” Javed added.
In the recent podcast, on the Fast-Bowling Cartel YouTube channel, Gillespie rejected the allegations and claimed that Javed never asked about the team’s strategy but arrived with clear instructions to play on used surfaces.
“I asked him, 'What was your plan after the first Test? We lost the first Test against England. No, you didn't. You waited in, and you said this is what we're doing. We're changing the team. We are playing on the same surface that we just played a five-day Test on in four days. So, it was going to be a day 10 or 11 surface. And I asked them, 'Why are we doing that?” Gillespie addressed.
The former pacer told how he and Kirsten faced the tough environment while working with the board. He also noted that using dryers and sprinkling sand on a tired surface would never be accepted.
“What I had an issue with in the pitch was I didn't agree with the suggestion to sprinkle it with sand as well. Not only did we have a 10- or 11-day pitch, just sprinkle it with sand. We were instructed before Aaqib and the new selectors came in that you could only pick players that passed the fitness testing criteria.” The former Australian fast bowler reckoned.
