Rizwan hints at press conference after NCCIA leaks probe

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan has said he is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the alleged dressing-room leaks. Speaking exclusively to Samaa TV, Rizwan said he is waiting for the inquiry to be completed before deciding on his next step. He said, “I am waiting for the investigation to be completed.”

The controversy comes during Pakistan’s recently concluded Test series against England, with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) questioning Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq over the alleged leaks from the team’s dressing room. The investigation has added to the pressure around Pakistan cricket during the series.

According to a Pakistani media report, Rizwan and Imam appeared before the NCCIA in Lahore on September 11 after receiving summons linked to a complaint filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Both players were reportedly questioned for around four hours and have sought additional time to submit their written responses.

The development comes days after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced an internal disciplinary inquiry into media reports about discipline and conduct within the national team. A source familiar with the matter told Dawn that Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan appeared at the NCCIA office after receiving notices. Their mobile phones had reportedly already been handed over to the agency for forensic examination.

The investigation is focused on alleged dressing-room leaks during Pakistan’s ongoing Test series against England. Investigators are also examining information recovered from the players’ devices as part of the inquiry. Both cricketers have requested more time to submit their written replies to the agency.

The NCCIA has not publicly revealed any findings from the investigation, while the PCB has also avoided detailed comments as the matter remains under investigation. Meanwhile, a third Pakistan cricketer has reportedly received a notice in connection with the case, although the player’s identity has not been disclosed.
