Jasprit Bumrah reaches new milestone in Chennai Test against Bangladesh

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah started the new home season by reaching a new milestone in international cricket on the second day of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah started the new home season by reaching a new milestone in international cricket on the second day of the Chennai Test against Bangladesh.

After the hosts India were all out for 376 runs, they bundled out Bangladesh for only 149 runs with a lead of 227 runs. The 149 all out is the lowest completed Test innings total for Bangladesh in 2024. Jasprit Bumrah (4/50) bagged four wickets, while Mohammed Siraj (2/30), Akash Deep (2/19), and Ravindra Jadeja (2/19) picked up two wickets each. 

After dismissing the opener Shadman Islam (2) in the first over of the innings, Bumrah took the wickets of Mushfqiur Rahim (8), Hasan Mahmud (9), and Taskin Ahmed (11). 

Only Shakib Al Hasan (32) reached the 30-run mark in the Bangladesh innings, where the right-arm pacer Bumrah finished with the bowling figures of 11-1-50-4.

Jasprit Bumrah has taken 401 international wickets

While Bumrah is playing his 196th international cricket match, the right-arm pacer completed his 400 wickets in international cricket. After making his international cricket debut in January 2016, Bumrah has played 37 Tests (including the ongoing Chennai Test), 89 ODIs, and 70 T20Is. He has taken 163 Test wickets, 149 ODI wickets, and 89 T20I wickets, as the right-arm pacer has recorded 401 international wickets.

After dismissing Hasan Mahmud, Bumrah completed 400 wickets in his international career. He became the sixth Indian pacer to record 400 international wickets. On the other hand, Bumrah also became the 10th Indian bowler to reach the 400 international wickets milestone.
