Watch: Kartik Tyagi's triple-wicket 19th over stuns RR during KKR vs RR clash in IPL 2026
Kartik Tyagi, coming into bowl the penultimate over of the first innings, picked up three wickets in the over to put RR under pressure during the KKR vs RR clash in IPL 2026.

On a sluggish surface at the Eden Gardens during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR), it was important for the home side to strike back and slow down the visitors, who enjoyed a powerful powerplay in the first innings.
The Royals’ opening pair, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, took them to a flying start with the bat without losing any wickets during the first six overs. But once the first wicket fell, the run scoring became hard on a slow surface against the two spinners, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine.
Kartik Tyagi impresses with three-wicket 19th over against RR
Kartik Tyagi has been the story for the Knight Riders in this campaign. In his first three overs, the right-arm pacer leaked only 20 runs without any success before coming into the attack to bowl the penultimate over against two strong left-handed batters, Ravindra Jadeja and Shimron Hetmyer.
But on his very first delivery, he sent back the Indian all-rounder for nine runs. It was banged short at the stumps as Jadeja swiveled across and didn’t bother to keep the pull down on the surface. The ball lopped in the air as Cameron Green used his hands beautifully to grab a fine catch at the deep backward square leg region.

Two balls later, Tyagi dismissed Shimron Hetmyer for 15 runs. The southpaw picked up the low full-toss and whipped it into the hands of a fielder with a thick outside edge behind the square on the off side. The third man judged the ball and grabbed it comfortably.
On the penultimate ball of the over, the pacer pocketed the wicket of Ravi Bishnoi for a second-ball duck. The right-handed batter came down the track to get the outside edge into the hands of the wicket-keeper.
KKR make another poor start in 156-run chase
In the last two overs of the innings, the Royals lost four wickets for just 12 runs as the KKR bowlers were fantastic in using their pace-cutters to restrict the inaugural champions to 156/9 in their allotted 20 overs of the innings.
However, the hosts made another nightmarish start, losing Tim Seifert on the very first delivery of the chase before watching the return of captain Ajinkya Rahane. The responsibility shouldered by their middle order to bail them out of trouble.
Brief Scores (at the time of writing): KKR 39/3 (Cameron Green 27, Ravi Bishnoi- 1/8) vs RR- 155/9 (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 46, Varun Chakravarthy 3/14)
