A couple of days after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, both Heinrich Klaasen and Sanju Samson have broken the silence on their viral heated exchange.
The incident took place during the encounter between the two sides just after Klaasen was dismissed through a superb stumping by Samson behind the stumps. But he seemed to throw a few words at the former South Africa batter, who wasn’t happy with it.
What exactly happened between Klaasen and Samson? Incident explained
It was an excellent delivery from Noor Ahmad, who changed his angle and tried to bowl from over the wicket to use the googly as Heinrich Klaasen stayed on the leg side and looked to go inside out with the ball spinning away and beating the outside edge, who dragged his back leg out and tried to plant it back in.
Samson broke the stumps and threw the ball up in the air. The Indian wicket-keeper also jumped after lighting up the stumps. Klaasen was dismissed for 47 runs off 26 balls, with the help of six boundaries and a couple of sixes. It was a superb knock in the contribution to their victory.

Hyderabad qualified for another playoff of the IPL 2026, having earned eight victories in 13 fixtures at a net run rate of +0.350. Later, Samson’s fans trolled Klaasen on the latter’s Instagram page due to the incident.
Samson’s ‘things happen’ comment— What both players said after the match
The Kerala-born put an Instagram story as he showed both men sharing a laugh. He revealed that while there had been several battles on the field, his respect for the man would always remain the same off it.
The SRH star was quick to give a reply to Sanju Samson’s story, reciprocating the same feelings towards the Chennai player. The Protea star informed that there were no issues between the two and was looking forward to more battles in the field.
“Things happen on the field, but lots of love and respect to this gem of a person off it.” Samson wrote on his Instagram story to which Klaasen replied by saying, ‘Much Love and Respect for you, bud. Always love watching you play. Keep doing your thing. We are all good. Looking forward to our next battle.”
It’s worth noting that both these players were teammates in the IPL 2018 for the Rajasthan Royals. Samson has clubbed 477 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 166.20 with one fifty and two centuries during IPL 2026, while Klaasen has blasted 555 runs at a strike rate of 155.89, scoring five half-centuries.
