The former captain and the wicket-keeper batter of the Indian side, MS Dhoni, has arrived in Ahmedabad in the morning of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which takes place on March 08 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He arrives at the airport amidst a massive crowd and intense security and is expected to be present during the final in the evening.
Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, India won the second semifinal of the World Cup against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They posted a strong score of 253 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs before the visitors got restricted to 246 runs for the loss of seven wickets and won the clash by seven runs.
At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the home side lost to South Africa in the Super 8 fixture of the event. The Aiden Markram-led side nailed a massive score of 187 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs before India got bundled out for 111 in 18.5 overs and lost the contest by 76 runs.
MS Dhoni touches down in Ahmedabad before T20 WC 2026 final
Heading into the final between the two sides, New Zealand’s opener, Finn Allen, is the third leading run-getter of the competition with 289 runs in seven innings at an average of 57.80 and a strike rate of 203.52. He has smashed 24 boundaries and 20 sixes and celebrated a fine century in the semifinal against the Proteas in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, for India, Ishan Kishan is their highest run-getter of the competition so far with 263 runs in eight innings at an average of 32.88 and a strike rate of around 190, thanks to 29 boundaries and 14 sixes. The southpaw, however, has struggled against the spinners for the entire tournament.
In the bowling department, Varun Chakravarthy is their leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets in eight innings at an average of 19.08. For the Blackcaps, Rachin Ravindra, shockingly, is the leading wicket-taker with 11 wickets in seven innings at an average of just 10.64.
