MS Dhoni shares valuable life lesson with Chennai Super Kings’ ₹14.2 crore star
MS Dhoni shares a simple yet powerful life lesson with Chennai Super Kings’ ₹14.2 crore signing, advising him on handling money after his big IPL deal.

The 5-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), will start their campaign on March 30 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati. The Men in Yellow are sweating off ahead of IPL 2026 as they have started their training camp in Chennai. Under skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team is filled with young players, some of whom were brought in the recent auction.
CSK went ahead and spent INR 14.2 crore on Prashant Veer. He was an unknown name before the franchise decided to spend a whopping amount on him. Ahead of the tournament, he opened up about his first interaction with MS Dhoni, which occurred while talking to Sportstar.
What MS Dhoni said to CSK’s top-priced player
Prashant Veer revealed his first interaction with MS Dhoni, where the former captain suggested the debutant keep a check on his money and not spend it unnecessarily. It was a huge jump for the domestic player as he was unaware of the fact that CSK would buy him. He also opened up about his preparations for the upcoming tournament.
“Right now, we haven’t spoken much about cricket. He told me to save my money and not spend it unnecessarily. First of all, I have to do what I know, what I have practised and what brought me here. If I think I have to take his place, there will be a lot of pressure because what he has done for the franchise or the Indian team is not easy to do. Right now, I’m just focusing on my game," Veer told Sportstar.
"It’s my first IPL, so I have never had practice sessions like this before. The environment and the intensity here are different, so it takes a little time to get used to it," he added.
