Nitish Kumar Reddy paid off in style at the Lord's. The all-rounder cleared both the openers—Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett—from the crease. Reddy's performance with the ball and bat was underwhelming in the previous game at Edgbaston. But the Indian team management showed faith in the talented cricketer, and he paid off.

In the presence of full-time pacers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep, England batters perhaps did not expect to see magical deliveries from Reddy. Duckett lost his wicket after getting impatient. The pacer put the ball well outside the off stump with a good amount of bounce. The England opener sensed a chance to pull. The left-handed batter swung the bat only to get an edge, which carried to the keeper, Rishabh Pant. Duckett departed for 23 off 40.

Zak's wicket fell because of an absolute jaffa. The combination of Reddy and Rishabh again did the job. The last delivery of the 14th over was angled towards the batsman. The right-handed opener did not measure the trajectory path of the ball correctly and produced a feather-like outside edge. Pant grabbed a simple catch to get rid of Zak Crawley, who made 18 off 43.

The decision from Ben Stokes was surprising

The fresh surface of the Lord has some grass to help the bowlers during the initial stage of the match. After winning the toss, England captain Ben Stokes surprisingly chose to bat first. When Crawley went back to the hut as the second wicket of the innings, England was then on 44 after 14 overs.

Before the beginning of the ongoing series, Nitish Kumar Reddy, 22, had a decent outing with the India A team against the England Lions during a couple of multi-day practice matches. In Canterbury, the emerging talent, during his batting duties, scored 7 and an unbeaten 52 and took a wicket as well. Then in Northampton, Reddy put 34 and 42 runs beside his name, including 1 wicket as well.
