Not SKY nor Sanju, former India international player picks this player as Player of the Tournament for upcoming Asia Cup 2025

Former India international Aakash Chopra predicted the winner of the Asia Cup 2025 along with the best possible individual performers. According to Chopra, India will win the trophy like the last previous edition of the Asia Cup. His choices for the best individual performers are pretty interesting.

The former cricketer believes that Afghanistan has the potential to enter into the final match of the multi-nation tournament, but ultimately, India will clinch the title. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a star-studded squad for the tournament with multiple power hitters. But Aakash thinks that the player of the tournament trophy will be in the hands of all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The 47-year-old predicted India opener Abhishek Sharma as the highest run scorer of the competition, and he picked Varun Chakravarthy as the highest wicket-taker of the tournament. 

The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to start on September 9, while India will start their campaign the next day with a match against the hosts, UAE, on Wednesday. Men in Blue will face archrivals Pakistan on Sunday, September 14.

Previous T20 Asia Cup 2025 champions

It is going to be the third time when the tournament is set in T20I format. In 2016, it was the first time when the tournament was shaped for the Twenty20 format when India lifted the trophy under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

Then in 2022, during the second T20I format Asia Cup, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in the final and won the title under Dasun Shanaka’s leadership.
