Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) enjoyed their success in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 during their recent contest against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, riding on the two debutant pacers, Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, who blew away the opponents.

Thanks to the huge victory, the Hyderabad side, currently under the leadership of Ishan Kishan, got the boost and went up to the fourth position in the points table with two victories in five clashes. But they hope to see their designated leader, Pat Cummins, back in India soon.

SRH receive timely boost as Pat Cummins returns to squad

Pat Cummins will undergo a fitness test on April 15 at home, and if he clears that, then there is a chance of him starting to play again. The Australian Test captain is expected to be back in Hyderabad on April 17 ahead of their next encounter against the Chennai Super Kings at home.

I'm back bowling. I'm bowling basically every third day at the moment. We've mapped out a plan to get me right by the middle of the tournament. So hopefully, if nothing goes wrong, I'll play the back half, plus the final. The veteran expressed before the start of the season, as he hoped to be part of the second half of the IPL 2026.

Cummins arrived in India on March 27, a few hours before the opening clash of the event between SRH and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He returned home after their second game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 02.

Australian skipper’s presence strengthens team balance

Once the pacer returns to the eleven, it will provide a massive boost to the team’s balance. Hinger and Sakib are nearly confirmed to be part of the side for a good amount of games, while Shivang Kumar has been exceptional with his left-arm wrist spin.

At the moment, they have gone with Travis Head, Heinrich Klassen, and Eshan Malinga into the playing XI. Either they can get rid of Malinga and bring Cummins, or they could think of an extra pacer in place of the left-arm spin of Harsh Dubey.

That decision will depend a lot on the management in getting the best balance of the eleven, depending on the condition of the surface.

Fans excited as Cummins gears up for IPL 2026 action

Here is how the fans have reacted to Cummins’ arrival in IPL 2026. They understand the importance of the veteran, who picked up 18 wickets when they ended as the runners-up of the event in 2024-
