Watch: Patidar catches his rival captain! Jaw-dropping grab to dismiss Shubman Gill for 10 sets up RCB's title defence in IPL 2026 final
RCB captain Rajat Patidar produced a stunning diving catch to dismiss Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill for just 10 runs in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The early wicket gave RCB the perfect start to their title defence, removing GT's biggest batting threat and putting immediate pressure on the home side.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to field first against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 Final on Sunday. The defending champions returned to the Narendra Modi Stadium looking to retain the title they won at the same venue last year, while the Gujarat Titans hoped to make the most of their home conditions in Ahmedabad.
Batting first, the Gujarat Titans suffered an early setback when captain Shubman Gill was dismissed cheaply. The in-form opener, who scored a brilliant century in Qualifier 2, was looking to give his side a strong start but could only manage 10 runs off 8 balls before falling to Josh Hazlewood in the third over.
The Indian Skipper attempted a short-arm pull shot against Hazlewood but failed to get proper timing on the ball. It looped towards the inner ring, where Rajat Patidar showed excellent reflexes to complete a sharp diving catch. The dismissal gave RCB an early breakthrough and put the Gujarat Titans under pressure in the summit clash.
