PCB bans Pakistan Champions from WCL 2026 over shocking reason, India vs Pakistan match won't happen

Pakistan Champions have withdrawn from WCL 2026 after PCB refused to clear its players, ruling out an India-Pakistan clash. Read the full news here.

Pakistan Champions team ahead of WCL 2026 after the PCB ban, with the India vs Pakistan match called off

Pakistan Champions have withdrawn from the World Championship of Legends (WCL) Season 3 after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refused to issue No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to the team’s players. The decision comes after last season’s controversy involving India and Pakistan, which has now affected Pakistan Champions’ participation in the 2026 edition.

The Pakistan Champions were scheduled to begin their WCL 2026 campaign against Bangladesh Champions in Sharjah on October 3. However, the match was postponed after the NOC issue, and the team was eventually ruled out of the tournament. Team owner Kamil Khan had requested the PCB to reconsider its decision and held discussions regarding the team’s participation, but the board maintained its position.

The dispute is linked to the fallout from WCL Season 2, when Indian players refused to play against Pakistan amid tensions between the two countries. India also withdrew from the semi-final, leading to criticism from the PCB. With Pakistan Champions now out of WCL 2026, fans will not get to see a possible India vs Pakistan clash in the tournament this season.

Why did PCB ban Pakistan Champions from WCL 2026? The shocking reason explained

As per Geo Super, Pakistan Champions owner Kamil Khan had formally requested the PCB to reconsider its decision and was involved in discussions over the team’s participation. However, the board maintained its decision to deny the players the required No-Objection Certificates (NOCs). Reports suggest that the PCB also wanted certain conditions related to last season’s India-Pakistan controversy, but the WCL management did not accept them.

Pakistan Champions confirmed their withdrawal in a statement, saying, “Pakistan Champions regret to confirm that the team will not be able to participate in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL), following the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to uphold its refusal to issue the required NOC.” The team also said it respected the PCB’s authority and decision, while expressing disappointment that its players would not get the chance to represent Pakistan Champions in the tournament.

Pakistan Champions were scheduled to play their opening match against Bangladesh Champions on October 3, but the fixture was postponed due to “technical reasons”. Their next match against Australia Champions, scheduled for October 6, was also cancelled. As a result, Pakistan Champions will not feature in WCL 2026.

India vs Pakistan match off: What it means for the WCL 2026 schedule

The dispute between India and Pakistan in the WCL dates back to the previous edition in July-August 2025. India Champions refused to play Pakistan Champions in their scheduled group-stage match amid tensions between the two countries. The match was cancelled, with both teams receiving one point each.

The controversy continued in the semi-finals when India Champions again declined to play against Pakistan Champions. The semi-final was subsequently called off, allowing Pakistan Champions to advance directly to the final. The PCB strongly criticised the situation and later announced a blanket ban on Pakistan’s future participation in the WCL, accusing the organisers of bias and political interference. Pakistan Champions eventually lost the 2025 final to South Africa Champions by nine wickets.

The PCB’s decision has now affected WCL 2026, with Pakistan Champions unable to take part in the tournament. Several former Pakistan stars, including captain Shahid Afridi, will miss the season, and the team was also absent from the trophy unveiling ceremony. Their withdrawal means fans will not get to see a possible India vs Pakistan match in WCL 2026, while the tournament schedule has also been affected by the team’s absence.

What happens next for Pakistan Champions and the WCL 2026 fixtures

Pakistan Champions will not take part in the ongoing WCL 2026 after the PCB decided not to issue the required NOCs to their players. The team management had made efforts to resolve the issue, but the PCB maintained its decision, leaving Pakistan Champions out of the tournament.

The withdrawal means their scheduled matches in WCL 2026 will not take place. Their opening game against Bangladesh Champions was postponed, while the match against Australia Champions was also cancelled. The tournament organisers will now have to adjust the remaining fixtures following Pakistan Champions’ absence.

For Pakistan Champions, the focus will now be on resolving the issue with the PCB and understanding whether the team can return to the WCL in future editions. For WCL 2026, the withdrawal is a major setback as fans will miss the chance to watch several former Pakistan stars and a possible India-Pakistan clash.
