PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi to attend ICC Board meeting virtually — not invited for IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad
PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi will attend the ICC Board Meeting virtually and has reportedly not been invited for the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad.

Mohsin Naqvi Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will not be traveling to Ahmedabad for the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 31 May. However, he will continue to attend the ICC Board Meeting, which is scheduled to take place during IPL final week. According to reports, Naqvi will attend the meeting virtually instead of being present in person.
Reports also stated that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not invite the PCB chairmain for the IPL 2026 final. Some Pakistan media reports earlier claimed that Naqvi had received a special invitation from the BCCI, but that information was reportedly incorrect. If Naqvi had travelled to India, it would only have been for the ICC meeting and nothing related to the IPL final.

ICC annual board meeting scheduled alongside IPL 2026 final — agenda, venue & key attendees explained
The ICC meetings in Ahmedabad are scheduled for May 30 and 31 alongside the IPL 2026 final. Before the in-person discussions, the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee will also hold a virtual meeting on May 21. Important topics related to the future of world cricket are expected to be discussed during these meetings.
One of the biggest discussion points will reportedly be the ICC’s global broadcasting rights deal, which is currently with JioStar and expires in 2027. The ICC earlier said these meetings are part of its regular governance process and are important for discussing the future growth of international cricket.
The ICC had also earlier explained why Doha was selected as the original venue. According to the ICC, Qatar’s growing involvement in cricket and its sports infrastructure made it an important location for future cricket development discussions.
PCB Chief's virtual attendance raises questions amid India-Pakistan cricket tensions
Mohsin Naqvi’s virtual attendance has once again highlighted the ongoing tensions between the BCCI and PCB. Cricket relations between India and Pakistan have remained difficult for several years because of political issues and disagreements over tournament arrangements. Bilateral cricket between the two nations is still not taking place.
Recent tensions also included controversies around the Asia Cup trophy ceremony and discussions regarding tournament hosting rights. Reports have suggested that even government clearance for Naqvi’s travel to India would have been difficult under the current situation. While ICC meetings continue to provide opportunities for communication between the boards, the overall relationship between Indian and Pakistan cricket remains tense.
