Pakistan ultimately did not boycott the Asia Cup, but that may not be the last fact about the controversy, as they are now considering whether or not to lodge a complaint against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. The move comes in response to his post-match remarks in support of the Pahalgam victim, which has added another twist to the already heated handshake saga.

The drama on September 14 may have ended, but the PCB is weighing escalation. According to reports, they believe Suryakumar mixed politics with cricket, an area they insist should remain separate. Their concern stems from his statement made after India’s win, where he dedicated the victory to victims and the armed forces.

"I just wanted to say something. I think it is a perfect occasion to take the time out. We stand by with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and we express our solidarity. Most important thing for me, we want to dedicate this win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all and we give them more reasons on the ground when we get an opportunity to make them smile," SKY said.

ICC Involvement and PCB’s Dilemma

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the PCB until Sunday to file an official complaint, should they choose to go ahead. Earlier, Pakistan had already lodged a complaint to the ICC against match referee Andy Pycroft regarding Suryakumar’s no-handshake gesture, but it was rejected, further denting their image.

In the end, the PCB had first chosen to not take its team to the remainder of the Asia Cup. But in a dramatic turnaround, they later reported to SPN that they would reverse that decision and resume play in the tournament, despite continued tensions and controversies.
