When Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain, Rishabh Pant, left the fielder inside the powerplay during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with an elbow injury, it looked hard for him to come back with the injury.

But Rishabh Pant, shouldering the responsibility of the side, came back at the crease after they lost Ayush Badoni. The visitors struggled to get going for the entire 20 overs as the left-handed batter hoped to provide them some momentum with a flurry of boundaries towards the end of the innings.

On his arrival, the left-handed batter squeezed the wide yorker and tried to run it down towards the third man. He opened the bat face and sliced it to the left of the short third man. The ball came at a good height to the fielder, Suyash Sharma, who couldn’t grab it easily.

On his next delivery, the southpaw was dismissed for one run in six balls. It was a low full toss from Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the veteran brought his wrist into play on the whip over the mid-wicket region. But he didn’t get the full elevation to put the ball away from the stands.

Phil Salt ran in from the deep region as the ball was nearly dying onto him. But he opened his body on the slide with full stretch and got both hands under it. He scooped it up and ensured that the ball wouldn’t pop out of his hands when he hit the ground.

It was only the second dismissal for Pant against the Indian pacer, who has been smashed for 121 runs in just 56 balls against the batter for a strike rate of 216.07 at an average of 60.50.

LSG bundled out for 146 against RCB

It was a sorry scorecard from the visitors who got bundled out for just 146 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh and Ayush Badoni were the only contributors at the start before Mukul Choudhary, thanks to his 39 runs in 28 balls with the help of three boundaries and two sixes, crossed the 145-run mark for them.

Brief Scores: (at the time of writing): RCB 21/1 (V Kohli 10*,  Prince Yadav 1/7) vs LSG 146 (M Marsh 40, R Salam 4/24)
