Punjab Kings extend unbeaten run with dominant win over Mumbai Indians

The Punjab Kings continued their strong form in IPL 2026 with a commanding seven-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. The win marked another clinical performance from Punjab, while Mumbai suffered their fourth straight defeat of the season.

Mumbai Indians batted first and posted 195/6, mainly driven by Quinton de Kock’s superb unbeaten 112 off 60 balls and Naman Dhir’s quick 50. The pair added a vital 132-run stand for the third wicket after MI were reduced to 15/2 early on. De Kock dominated the innings with seven sixes and eight fours, while Dhir supported him well, but MI could not finish strongly in the death overs.

Chasing 196, Punjab Kings started aggressively as Deepak Chahar conceded 21 runs in the opening over, putting MI under pressure immediately. Although MI managed a couple of breakthroughs through AM Ghazanfar, they could not control the flow of runs for long. The match turned in Punjab’s favour with a massive 139-run partnership between Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer.

Prabhsimran played a stunning unbeaten knock of 80 off just 31 balls, while Iyer added a classy 66 off 35 deliveries. Both batters dominated the MI bowling attack, with even Jasprit Bumrah going wicketless and expensive. Punjab Kings chased down the target comfortably in 16.3 overs, finishing at 198/3 with 21 balls remaining.

Earlier, Arshdeep Singh’s early breakthroughs helped restrict MI despite the strong fight from de Kock and Dhir. The win further strengthens Punjab Kings’ position in the IPL 2026 standings, while Mumbai Indians continue to struggle for consistency in the tournament.
