PSL 2026: David Warner arrested for drunk driving during break, court date awaits

The opener and captain of the Karachi Kings, David Warner, has been arrested for drunk driving in the road of Maroubra during his break in the Pakistan Super League 2026 as the court date awaits.

Due to the break of seven days between their games in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, the Karachi Kings released their captain, David Warner, who flew back home to spend some quality time with his family. He was scheduled to be back in Pakistan for the Kings’ next game against Peshawar Zalmi on April 08 at the National Stadium.

Karachi Kings has done a very good job in their performances with bat and ball in the campaign to be in the second position with three wins in as many contests. In the Lahore leg, they blew away the Quetta Gladiators, the Lahore Qalandars, and the Rawalpindiz, and will have a stiff challenge in the home games.

Player detained during off-field incident amid PSL 2026 window

The former Australian opener, David Warner, was arrested for drinking drive down under, and while he was about to return to Pakistan to be part of the PSL 2026, he will now have to appear before a court sooner or later. He was found to be almost twice the legal alcohol limit after failing a breath test late on Sunday night in Marouba.

The statement of news.com.au has revealed that the New South Wales (NSW) police confirmed that Warner had stopped and parked his vehicle before reaching the testing site. After that, the officers approached him and administered a breath test that returned a positive result.

The 32-year-old has smashed 93 runs in three innings at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 138.80, thanks to the best score of 50. In 14 innings of the PSL career, he has slammed 461 runs at a strike rate of 150.65, scoring four half-centuries.

Details emerge around arrest and upcoming court hearing

Warner was arrested and taken to Marouba Police Station, where he returned a reading of 0.1. The left-handed batter is now all set to appear in court in May.

“About 5:30 pm today (Sunday 5 April 2026), police were conducting stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van was seen to allegedly stop short of the testing site and park.” The statement has been addressed.

“Officers attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and subjected the driver, a 39-year-old man, to roadside testing, which returned a positive result.” It added. 

It's also intertesting to see whether Warner returns for the PSL 2026 along with the leg-spinner of the side, Adam Zampa.
