In a thrilling IPL 2025 match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad's Punjabi pride, Abhishek Sharma, absolutely demolished Punjab Kings with an incredible 40-ball hundred. The left-handed opener's monstrous innings consisted of 10 fours and 7 sixes, mesmerizing the fans and creating a frenzy on social media and fan interactions; it became known as "Punjab ke against Punjabi ki century." Chasing an intimidating 246, Abhishek's barrage propelled SRH to a remarkable win, resurrecting their season in style.

The Amritsar player, 24, demonstrated his aggressive batting from the beginning, confronting Punjab's strong bowling arsenal with fearless shots. Accompanied by Travis Head, who added a swift 68, Abhishek tore apart the likes of Arshdeep Singh and Lockie Ferguson. His knack for spotting gaps and hitting boundaries at will turned the match in SRH's favor, taking the 100-run partnership to just eight overs. When he completed his century, the crowd was on its feet, applauding a knock that combined raw power with impeccable timing.

Social media went into overdrive with admiration, with fans pointing out the irony of a Punjabi batsman taking Punjab Kings apart. X posts reflected the mood, with one fan commenting, "Abhishek Sharma is a monster! A 40-ball ton against PBKS—talk about owning your roots"! His strike rate of more than 250 highlighted his dominance, and it was one of the quickest IPL centuries in history.

In spite of Punjab Kings' imposing overall, thanks to Priyansh Arya's 32 off 16 and Shreyas Iyer's gritty 48, they could not do anything against Abhishek's destruction.

A Game-Changing Knock for SRH

Not only was this century a career-defining moment for Abhishek, but it also proved to be a lifeline to SRH, who so far had battled for consistency in the season. Throughout the innings, Abhishek silenced the skeptics and showed (yet again) the reason why he is one of the cornerstones of the SRH batting unit. While this provided SRH with a positive step forward on the points table, it also set a fresh standard for aggressive batting in IPL 2025 by the time Abhishek finished. We, and SRH fans, look forward to seeing him again.
