Harshal Patel etched his name into the Indian Premier League (IPL) record books by achieving a significant personal milestone during SunRisers Hyderabad’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants. The right-arm pacer became the fastest bowler in IPL history to reach 150 wickets in balls bowled, a feat that saw him surpass some of the league’s most iconic names. He accomplished this remarkable record by removing Aiden Markram in the 16th over with one of his well-known slower yorkers.

The wicket came on the 2381st ball of Harshal Patel’s IPL career, making him the quickest to 150 wickets regarding deliveries bowled. This achievement broke the previous record held by Sri Lankan pace legend Lasith Malinga, who had reached the mark in 2444 balls. The updated list now places Harshal at the top, followed by Malinga, Yuzvendra Chahal (2543), Dwayne Bravo (2656), and Jasprit Bumrah (2832). His precision and craft have made him a consistent wicket-taker in the league.

In addition to setting the ball-based record, Harshal also became the second-fastest to 150 wickets by matches played, reaching the landmark in 117 games — only Malinga, who achieved it in 105, has done it quicker. Despite this record-breaking achievement, it wasn’t an ideal outing overall for Harshal or the SunRisers Hyderabad team, as they struggled in other areas during the match. Nevertheless, the moment remains a highlight and a testament to Harshal’s skill, perseverance, and impact in IPL history.
