The IPL 2026 playoff venues remain unannounced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India yetthey have already provided information which shows their planned locations. RCB captain Rajat Patidar indicated that Bengaluru will host the IPL 2026 final at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium when he made his statement during the toss before the match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals.

Patidar's statement has generated extensive debate because the tournament schedule was divided into multiple parts for electoral purposes which resulted in unclear playoff venue information. The BCCI has not yet issued an official statementbut RCB skipper has made a declaration which strongly suggests that Chinnaswamy will serve as the venue for this season's grand finale.

RCB’s strong home form adds weight to Patidar’s statement

RCB has achieved great success at their home matches during IPL 2026 by winning three games at Chinnaswamy Stadium against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The team has achieved an impressive record after winning four out of five matches they have played.

Patidar’s remark about making Chinnaswamy a “fortress” reflects the team’s confidence, especially if they get a chance to defend their title at home. The reigning champions currently stand as top contenders who will compete for a playoff position.

Chinnaswamy Stadium’s IPL final history

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium has hosted only one IPL final in the past, back in 2016. The home match for RCB ended with Sunrisers Hyderabad winning the championship under David Warner.

RCB achieved their first championship victory when they won the IPL last season after experiencing their previous defeat. The franchise intends to achieve historical success by defending their championship title at their home stadium if the final takes place in Bengaluru this year. Patidar's statement has created anticipation for the upcoming IPL 2026 finale which requires official confirmation to proceed.
