Rocky Flintoff, son of former England captain Andrew Flintoff, scored his maiden senior century for Lancashire against Somerset in the One-Day Cup. The 18-year-old reached his hundred in just 65 balls, showing impressive power and confidence.

Flintoff eventually scored 123 runs off 76 balls, hitting 10 fours and seven sixes. He came to the crease when Lancashire were 138 for three and quickly changed the momentum of the innings with his attacking batting.

Flintoff also shared a 214-run partnership with skipper Keaton Jennings, who scored a brilliant 156. Their efforts helped Lancashire post a record 443 for six at Taunton.

18-year-old Rocky Flintoff reaches maiden century in just 65 balls at Taunton

Rocky Flintoff, the 18-year-old son of former England captain Andrew Flintoff, smashed 123 runs off 76 balls for Lancashire against Somerset. He reached his maiden senior century in just 65 balls, helping Lancashire post a huge 443 for six in their 50 overs. Flintoff had already scored hundreds for Lancashire’s Second XI, England Under-19s and England Lions.

Somerset won the toss and chose to bowl first, but Lancashire lost Matty Hurst for 47 in the 14th over. Archie Vaughan, son of former England batter Michael Vaughan, took Hurst’s wicket and later dismissed Josh Bohannon for eight. Marcus Harris was then bowled by James Theedom as Somerset looked to put pressure on Lancashire.

However, Flintoff and opener Keaton Jennings helped Lancashire take control of the innings. Jennings scored a brilliant 156 before being dismissed by James Langridge, while Flintoff was caught by Archie Vaughan off Migael Pretorius five overs later. Flintoff reached his first 50 from 37 balls before scoring his next 50 in just 28 deliveries, finishing with 10 fours and seven sixes.

Before his century, Rocky Flintoff had scored 33 not out, 41 not out, 34, 61 not out, 0 and 1 in his six senior appearances this season. However, he produced a completely different performance against Somerset, using his clean hitting through the mid-wicket region to put the bowlers under pressure.

Flintoff joined Keaton Jennings for a fourth-wicket partnership of 214 runs from 127 balls. Jennings scored 105 from 66 balls during the stand, while Flintoff added 98 from 63 deliveries. Jennings eventually fell for a brilliant 156 off 127 balls, including 15 fours and seven sixes. Flintoff then reached his maiden century from his 65th ball.

The 18-year-old continued his attacking batting after reaching three figures before being dismissed for 123 off 76 balls. He smashed 10 fours and seven sixes, with 82 of his runs coming from boundaries. Lancashire's lower order kept the momentum going, with Harry Singh scoring 20 off 10 balls, Jack Blatherwick making an unbeaten 32 off 10 and Arav Shetty adding 11 not out off five. Lancashire eventually finished on a record 443 for six, with Flintoff's maiden senior century marking an important moment in his young career.

From England U-19 star to senior ton — Rocky follows in father Andrew's footsteps

Rocky Flintoff made history in 2024 when he became Lancashire's youngest-ever player in the One-Day Cup at the age of 16 years and 113 days. This came just a week after he became the youngest player to score a century for England Under-19s, highlighting his potential at a very young age.

Rocky signed his first professional contract with Lancashire in the summer of 2024. He continued to impress by scoring a century for the England Lions against a Cricket Australia XI in early 2025, aged just 16. However, an injury kept him out for much of the following season before he returned to first-team cricket in 2026.

Rocky started his cricket journey at Alderley Edge Cricket Club in Cheshire before playing for Southport and Birkdale. He made his Lancashire Second XI debut in April 2024 and soon scored an unbeaten half-century against Durham. A week later, he smashed 116 against Warwickshire, becoming the youngest player to score a century for Lancashire in the Second XI Championship and breaking a record previously held by his father, Andrew Flintoff.
