Rohit Sharma set to play for Mumbai in Vijay Hazare Trophy ahead of IND vs NZ ODI series: Report
Rohit’s participation in the domestic one-day tournament is almost confirmed. He is expected to play a few matches for Mumbai before joining the ODI series against New Zealand.

World No. 1 ODI batter Rohit Sharma is all set to play for Mumbai in the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. The tournament will be held from December 24 to January 18.
According to a report by RevSportz on Friday (December 12), Rohit’s participation in the domestic one-day tournament is almost confirmed. He is expected to play a few matches for Mumbai before joining the ODI series against New Zealand.
India will face New Zealand in a three-match ODI series in January 2026. The 50-over matches will be played in Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore on January 11, 14, and 18.
“The squad will be picked on a match-to-match basis, and we expect Rohit to play a few games, although we haven’t received any confirmation from him yet," an MCA source was quoted as saying by RevSportz.
As per the available information, Rohit Sharma is yet to officially confirm his availability for the matches in Jaipur to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). This is despite him scoring 75 runs for India in the third ODI against South Africa on December 6 in Visakhapatnam.
However, Rohit remains firmly in the MCA’s plans. A source said there is still time, as the squad is likely to be selected next week after the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The source added that India’s ODI series against New Zealand next month will also play a role in deciding his availability.
Virat in Delhi’s Squad
Virat Kohli will play for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after a gap of 15 years. The former India captain was included in Delhi’s squad on Thursday, along with Rishabh Pant.
Kohli’s availability was confirmed earlier this month. Along with Pant, his presence is expected to strengthen Delhi’s batting line-up. This move also follows the BCCI rule that asks centrally contracted players to play domestic cricket when they are not on international duty.
