Why Sudharsan and Sundar were left out of India's playing XI for IND vs SL

Sai Sudharsan was initially named in India’s squad for the Sri Lanka Test series, subject to fitness clearance. However, he failed to recover in time from his right toe injury and was ruled out of the series.

Washington Sundar was also unavailable as he continued to recover from a right hamstring injury. He suffered the injury during the second ODI against England in Cardiff on July 16. Varun Chakravarthy also picked up a hamstring injury during the T20I series against England last month.

Both Sudharsan and Sundar were in contention to feature in the IND vs SL Tests but could not pass their fitness assessments. As a result, Saransh Jain and Sarfaraz Khan were added to India’s squad as replacements.
