The Indian star batter, Sarfaraz Khan, remains hopeful of reclaiming his spot in the Test side despite being sidelined for a long period. The 28-year-old, after being snubbed from the Test series against Sri Lanka, dropped a cryptic message on social media platforms. They are currently playing a warm-up contest against the Sri Lanka XI in Colombo.

Sarfaraz’s last international game for the Indian side came during the third Test of the three-match series against New Zealand in 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The right-handed batter was dismissed for a four-ball duck in the first innings and managed only one run in the second innings.

What did Sarfaraz Khan post after being snubbed for the Test squad?

Sarfaraz, on August 07, posted a photo from the 2019 Telugu filmJerseywith the caption that read:I may not fit in, but I will fight with everything I have got.Sarfaraz made his debut in the red-ball format for the Indian side during the Test series against England in Rajkot.

Sarfaraz didn’t enjoy a great campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 for the Chennai Super Kings, in which he notched up only 161 runs in seven innings at an average of 23 and a strike rate of 169.47 with just one half-century to his name.

Sarfaraz, at an age of touching 29 in a few months, hopes to make his Test return soon for the Indian side, who will play New Zealand in the away series in November this year before hosting Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2027 at the start of next year.

Can Sarfaraz Khan still replace Sai Sudharsan for the SL Test series?

Sarfaraz has smashed 371 runs in 11 innings of the Test format at an average of 37.10 and a strike rate of 74.94, thanks to three half-centuries and one century at the best score of 150 runs against the Kiwis during the opening Test at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He was dropped a couple of Test matches later.

Sai Sudharsan was slotted in the squad at the start of the series. But he has been injured for a long time and is practicing at the BCCI’s CoE ground to get fit for the Test series against Sri Lanka.
