The Mumbai Indians (MI) made a flying start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign against the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk as they thumped 57 runs for the loss of one wicket inside the powerplay as Ryan Ricketon out enormous pressure on the home bowlers.

But CSK made a strong comeback in the middle phase of the game as Noor Ahmed used his pace variation and different types of deliveries to challenge the batters, who were not able to hit through the line on a surface that was a bit tricky to free the arms.

Sarfaraz Khan grabs terrific catch to send back Naman Dhir in IPL 2026

One of the shining stars of the Mumbai Indians batting against the Super Kings on a tough surface was Naman Dhir, who began aggressively before using his technique to find the singles and doubles in ticking the scorecard. One of the best parts of his patient knock was not throwing his wicket when things didn’t go their way.

Watch the video here:

The right-hander batter, after celebrating his half-century in the evening, smashed Jamie Overton for a massive six. It was a straight delivery on the middle and leg stump as the batter maintained a solid base and swung his bat over the backward square leg as the ball sailed over the stands.

However, his celebration was cut short as the bowler took his revenge with the wicket of the batter. It was an off-cutter that held to the surface. Dhir backed away and was deceived by the pace, and didn’t get the timing on the drive. He miscued it towards the extra-cover region.

Sarfaraz Khan, who wasn’t part of the bowling playing XI, moved to his left and leaped in the air before handing on with both hands to complete the catch. He made it look like a fine catch at the end, which it wasn't at all.
