Shaheen Afridi withdraws from The Hundred after being unsold in 2026 auction
The left-arm pacer of the Pakistan side, Shaheen Shah Afridi, decided to withdraw his name from the maiden 2026 season's auction of The Hundred after no franchise showed any interest on the veteran.

The left-arm pacer of the Pakistan side, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has been one of the five male overseas players who withdrew their names from the auction list of The Hundred 2026 at the eleventh hour. He later went unsold in the event, or more specifically, he didn’t even come to the auction table to get under the hammer.
Shaheen Afridi has picked up a total of six wickets in as many innings for the Welsh Fire during the 2023 season of the competition at an average of 21 and a strike rate of 16.6 with an economy rate of around 7.56. The left-arm fast bowler has bagged 346 wickets in 249 innings of the shortest format at an average of 21.12 and an economy rate of just under eight.

Afridi didn’t enjoy a great campaign in the T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka as the Pakistan side got disqualified from the Super 8 stage of the event after their narrow victory against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
Unsold Shaheen Afridi withdraws from The Hundred 2026
Afridi’s withdrawal means that there were only 13 players of the Pakistan side available in the auction of the Men’s The Hundred. The ECB and the eight franchises released a joint statement committed to the selection based on the availability, performance, and the needs of each team after reports of a potential shadow ban on the Pakistan players from the Indian-owned sides.
Usman Tariq became the first player of the Pakistan side to be sold in the auction as the bidding process increased his base price of 100k pounds to 140k pounds as the Birmingham Phoenix successfully signed the mystery-spinner.
Meanwhile, the leg-spinner, Abrar Ahmed, becomes the first Pakistani player to be part of the Indian-owned franchise in The Hundred 2026. The Sunrisers Leeds were able to get the spinner for a price of 190k pounds from the base price of 100k pounds. The league, for this season, will bring new excitement among the fans.
