During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Shreyas Iyer played a jaw-dropping one-handed six against Lungi Ngidi. Both the batter and bowler would never forget the moment, along with the fans.

Iyer has been in superb touch during the ongoing edition as he decided to promote himself at number three in the batting department against his former franchise. Punjab’s opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided them a strong start with a 78-run opening stand in 6.5 overs.

Shreyas Iyer’s one-handed maximum off Lungi Ngidi leaves DC fans stunned in IPL 2026

Shreyas Iyer walked into the middle on the final delivery of the seventh over and opened his account with two successive boundaries against Auqib Nabi. He pulled the short ball into the deep square leg region before opening the bat face and using the pace of the bowler to run it past the keeper.

The star Indian batter started the ninth over of the innings with another four before leaning into the drive against Madhav Tiwari over the mid-off region for another boundary. But the most attractive shot of the evening came from his bat on the 12th over of the innings.

On the fourth delivery of the over, Iyer was undone by the slower ball of Lungi Ngidi. But he somehow scooped it over the mid-off region for a huge six. The right-handed batter didn’t pick the change of pace but threw with the shot and earned the over boundary.

The Mumbai-born continued the same aggression and cracked another boundary against Mukesh Kumar into the third man's fence. He was excellent in timing the shots in the evening against the Delhi bowlers. He slapped the short ball outside the off stump for another six to celebrate his half-century off just 32 balls.

It was his third successive fifty against the Capitals as he joined Virat Kohli (twice achieving the record) and Rahul Dravid. The veteran finished the 18th over of the innings with another six over the long-on region and remained unbeaten on 59 runs in 36 balls at a strike rate of 163.89, thanks to 163.89.

Punjab ended with 210 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Suyansh Shedge played a blinder of 21 runs in just eight balls. Delhi, in reply, didn’t make a great start and lost four wickets at the halfway stage of the game as the required run rate created massive pressure on the visitors.
