Sourav Ganguly DC head coach: Full IPL 2027 coaching staff

The Delhi Capitals (DC) have officially appointed the former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly, as their new head coach ahead of the 2027 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as they made the announcement through an exciting video on their social media platforms.

The Delhi franchise finished in sixth position in the points table. They earned seven victories and as many defeats in 14 encounters at a net run rate of -0.051. Ganguly will replace Hemang Badani as the head coach of the side from the 2026 season.

Ganguly has been connected with the Delhi Capitals since 2019 when he joined them as an advisor. After his tenure as the BCCI president, he was appointed as the Director of Cricket for both the men’s and women’s teams. He has also served as the head coach of Pretoria Capitals, leading them to the SA20 final earlier this year.

“I am looking forward to taking on the role of Head Coach in the IPL. Delhi Capitals is a franchise very close to my heart, and one that I have shared a strong relationship with over the years. I have worked closely with the owners, management, support staff and players, which makes this an exciting responsibility for me.” Ganguly expressed.

“We have a talented group and have played a good brand of cricket in the recent past. I am looking forward to working with the squad, the new season, and building a strong and fearless team.” The Indian captain addressed.

The owner of the franchise, Parth Jindal, has also shown his excitement to have Ganguly as the head coach of the side, as they still aim to claim their maiden title of the competition.

“Dada is and has always been an integral part of the Delhi Capitals family. I am incredibly proud and honoured to announce that one of the greatest Indian captains and administrators is now stepping into coaching by taking over as the head coach of the Delhi Capitals.” Jindal informed.

Before the appointment of Ganguly as the head coach of the DC side for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027, they appointed Yuvraj Singh as their batting coach. The legendary Indian all-rounder joins to boost the team’s batting unit, while they went ahead with the former Sri Lankan pacer, Chaminda Vaas, who will look after their bowling.

Their spin bowling coach will be Amit Mishra. The former Indian leg-spinner and IPL icon returns to lead the side's spin attack. This overhaul marks the exit of the previous coaching cycle, consisting of Venugopal Rao, Hemang Badani, Munaf Patel, and Ian Bell.

The Capitals’ captaincy may also be shifted from Axar Patel, who didn’t do a great job in the previous season. KL Rahul is the likely person to take up the role.
