Spain have won 14 consecutive T20I matches
It was Spain’s 14th straight T20I victory, a new record for the most consecutive wins in T20I cricket history. Malaysia and Bermuda jointly held the previous record with 13 victories each.
Spain started their 14th successive T20I wins journey on February 25, 2023, with an eight-wicket win against the Isle of Man. It was the third game of the six-match T20I series. The series ended with a 5-0 victory for Spain, where the hosts won the last four consecutive matches before winning the series opener. The second match of the series ended with no result as the first innings couldn’t be completed.
Spain played their next T20I matches in April 2024, where they beat Jersey twice. In this month, Spain first won the five-match T20I series against Croatia by 5-0. Then, Spain have won their first three matches of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional Europe Qualifier Group C. In this ongoing tournament, Spain have defeated Cyprus, the Czech Republic, and Greece, while their third match against Denmark was abandoned without a toss.
Spain are looking for another T20I record
So, Spain have recorded 14 consecutive T20I wins and also played 16 straight T20I matches without any defeat. If Spain don’t suffer defeats in their next two T20Is, they will set another T20I world record for most consecutive T20I matches without defeat. Nigeria presently hold the record for most consecutive T20I matches without defeat with 17 matches.
