Suryakumar Yadav drops from No 1 spot in ICC T20I rankings - Cricket Winner
Travis Head surpasses Suryakumar Yadav to claim the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Batter’s rankings after an impressive performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Travis Head has topped the ICC Men’s T20I Batter’s rankings, surpassing Suryakumar Yadav after his reign of 601 days. Head’s outstanding performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 was crucial, scoring 255 runs in seven matches, highlighted by a brilliant 76-run innings against India, despite Australia’s exit from the tournament.
Head’s recent achievements make him the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer. He took the top spot from Suryakumar, who held it since December 2023. In his recent matches, Head scored 31 against Bangladesh, faced a duck against Afghanistan, and scored a crucial 76 against India. In contrast, Suryakumar’s recent scores were 53 against Afghanistan, 6 against Bangladesh, and 31 against Australia, with his low score against Bangladesh proving costly.
Suryakumar’s recent form and Head’s rise in rankings
However, Suryakumar has a chance to reclaim his position soon, trailing Head by only two points and set to play in upcoming matches. Suryakumar will compete at least in the semifinal against England, and potentially one more match if India advances.
Head’s ascent in the rankings has caused Phil Salt, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam to each drop one place. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the only other Indian in the top ten, holds the seventh spot with 672 rating points, despite not playing in the T20 World Cup 2024.
