Three Puducherry Ranji Trophy cricketers suspended: Know the details

Three Puducherry Ranji Trophy cricketers have been suspended on assault charges. The Cricket Association of Puducherry (CAP) has confirmed that three cricketers have been suspended from all cricketing activities under the governing body. 

The three suspended Puducherry cricketers are the 32-year-old J Karthiyeyan, the 29-year-old A Aravindaraj, and the 28-year-old S Santhosh Kumaran. These three cricketers faced charges of attempt to murder and assault on the U19 coach Venkataraman, which occurred on December 8, 2025.

The CAP press release said, "The trio have been charged with attempt to murder and assault on Venkataraman. A formal charge sheet has been filed by Station House Officer (SHO) Sedurapet Police Station under FIR 100/2025 and the matter is pending before Judicial Magistrate-IV Court Puducherry.”

List of sanctions against the players

All three players have received the following sanctions under the CAP.

• Suspended with immediate effect from all cricket activities under the CAP.
• Strictly prohibited and banned from entering the CAP Siechem campus, Tutipet, Pondicherry, and any CAP-controlled premises until further orders.
• Not permitted to represent CAP in any capacity in domestic or external cricket tournaments/activities.
• Until the Hon'ble Court adjudicates the matter and clears the accused of all charges, they will remain suspended.

Who are J Karthiyeyan, A Aravindaraj, and S Santhosh Kumaran? 

Jayasundaram Karthikeyan, J Karthikeyan, played one first-class match, three List A games, and two T20s till December 2024. On the other hand, A Aravinddaraj played four first-class matches, five List A games, and 15 T20s till November 2025. Meanwhile, S Santhosh Kumaran experienced one first-class match and two T20s till February 2019.
