Virat Kohli breaks Kumar Sangakkara's record

Virat Kohli reached a big batting milestone during the third One-Day International (ODI) between India and Australia in Sydney on Saturday, October 25. The star Indian right-handed batter passed former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI cricket history. The 36-year-old run machine crossed Sangakkara’s all-time record by scoring his 54th run in his 293rd innings (305th ODI).

This achievement is remarkable as Kohli needed 87 fewer innings than Sangakkara to reach this career record. He achieved the significant milestone by taking a single off Australian spinner Cooper Connolly in the 32nd over of the match. Kohli is now only behind Sachin Tendulkar on the all-time ODI runs list.
