While India suffered a 113-run defeat against New Zealand in the Pune Test, they lost the three-match home Test series by 2-0 with one Test to go. One of the heartbreaking pictures of the match was the former Indian captain Virat Kohli’s unlucky dismissal.

India got a challenging fourth innings target of 359 runs in the Pune Test. It was a spin-bowling-friendly track from day one, and none of the team reached the 260-run mark in the first three innings of the Test match. So, it was undoubtedly a very challenging target for the hosts.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal once again produced his strong aggressive batting performance as he scored 77 runs off 65 balls with nine fours and three sixes. However, after his dismissal, India failed to fight in the fourth innings.

Virat Kohli disappointed in the first innings

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was already criticised for his first innings dismissal of the match, where he was bowled out for only one run in a full-toss delivery. The right-handed batter was desperate to show his class in the tough fourth innings of the match.

The Indian team was already disturbed by the quick dismissals of Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. After Jaiswal was dismissed, Pant was disappointedly run out on a risky single.

Kohli was in shock after his lbw dismissal

Kohli was building a partnership with Washington Sundar when the New Zealand left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner appealed for an lbw dismissal of Kohli. English umpire Richard Illingworth raised his finger to give it out. Kohli soon took the review in the hope of the ball missing the leg stump.

However, Kohli got a disappointing result. The ball just touched the leg stump, and due to the umpire’s call, Kohli lost his wicket after scoring 17 runs. Kohli was in shock at the result.

When Kohli was returning to the dressing room, he was clearly unhappy. At the foot of the stairs, disappointed Kohli hit a bucket with his bat.
