Indian cricketers’ sends heartfelt diwali wishes

India celebrated the festival of Diwali on Monday, and the cricket fraternity too joined in to share festive vibes. Star Sports came out with a special video for cricket heroes such as Virat Kohli, Smriti Mandhana, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav wishing fans warm Diwali greetings. The video went viral very soon, with fans liking the way their favorite cricketers meshed with the festival spirit.

Diwali is a widely celebrated festival of India and represents victory of light over darkness and good over bad. It is derived from the Hindu tradition of Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya after conquering the demon king Ravana.
People celebrate by lighting oil lamps, bursting firecrackers, sharing sweets, gifting each other, and passing time with friends and family. The video of cricket stars encapsulated this celebratory atmosphere to perfection, bringing fans closer to the joy of the moment.

However, cricket fans had a tough weekend leading up to the celebrations. India lost the first ODI against Australia by seven wickets at Perth Stadium on Sunday. On the same day, India Women lost to England Women by just four runs in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Even though they were in charge, the lower order crumbled under pressure and suffered a heart-wrenching loss.

Diwali Spirit Brightens the Mood

Despite these on-field setbacks, Diwali brought joy to fans and players alike. The warm wishes from India's cricket heroes boosted moods and reinforced the message of celebration and unity. Virat Kohli, Smriti Mandhana, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav made the fans feel part of the festival, despite being away from home or the stadium.
