There are a few fitness concerns for the Indian side, going into the fourth Test of the five-match series in England after their 22-run dramatic defeat at Lord’s, being 2-1 down in the series. It was a tough week for the batters as they failed to chase 193 runs in the fourth innings. No one stood tall apart from Ravindra Jadeja’s stubborn knock.

For the upcoming fixture in Manchester, the eyes were on Rishabh Pant’s fitness. The wicket-keeper batter was injured while gathering a ball into his gloves while keeping and didn’t field for the rest of the fixture. Dhruv Jurel kept wickets while Pant was available to bat in both innings of the game.

“The biggest news is that Rishabh Pant is fit and fine. He had a finger injury last week, from which he has almost recovered. It’s painful only if someone touches that; otherwise, there is no such other pain. It seemed like his nail was stuck in the skin of the finger. He is not doing the nets today, but the injury might not be the reason for that.’ A journalist from SportsTak revealed in a video.

The left-handed wicket-keeper batter has clubbed 3373 runs in the red-ball format in 81 innings at an average of 44.38 and a strike rate of 74.19, with the help of eight centuries and 17 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 159 runs. In this recent series against England, he has bagged two half-centuries.

Rishabh Pant should be able to play the fourth Test in Manchester. The issue was that he tried to grab the ball, it perhaps hit the nail and pushed it back inside the skin, and that made it incredibly painful for him for the rest of the game. But it’s not a big issue now, and the scans are also fine. He should be good to go for Manchester, and everyone knows his importance.’ The journalist added.

However, India’s assistant coach, Ryan Ten Doeschate, reckoned that it would be unlikely for the Delhi batter to keep wickets at Old Trafford. Jurel would be the ideal option, but if Pant and Jurel both play, then the management will have to leave one of Washington Sundar or Nitish Reddy for their do-or-die contest.
