Watch: MS Dhoni's fun banter with CSK batter wins heart ahead MI clash in IPL 2026
MS Dhoni shares a light moment with a young Chennai Super Kings batter during practice ahead of the clash against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are struggling in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 and there's nothing they can do now. After losing four out of six matches, scripting a comeback is not that easy. In 2010, CSK were in a similar condition, but MS Dhoni's captaincy, and players like Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel, and others made a difference, unlike in 2026. There's no Dhoni to save the team or a player like Raina to perform consistently in the top order.
With the ruling out of Ayush Mhatre from the rest of the tournament due to injury, matters have become worse for the franchise. It's been two years since they qualified for the playoffs, and it seems like a third year is loading. Amidst this, MS Dhoni's return is on the cards, and the fans can't keep quiet about it. The former skipper is warming up and doing some glove work in the nets ahead of the clash against the arch-rivals, the Mumbai Indians (MI).

MS Dhoni's fun banter with CSK batter goes viral
When MS Dhoni is keeping, batters have to be extra careful. His glove work is phenomenal. The players cannot escape a stump-out if Dhoni is behind, and the same happened during CSK's practice session. The former captain was keeping behind the wickets when a young CSK batter went two steps forward to hit the ball, but missed it. The ball went to Dhoni, who was behind the wicket.
He waited for a few seconds, looked at the batter and then went on to hit the stumps. The banter between the two players won hearts as the fans liked watching Dhoni groom the young players in the squad. CSK are looking for players who can replace Ayush in the playing XI. Hence, the batters will have to sweat it out in the nets to make themselves stand out.
