The former captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni, has reflected on the success of the champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who won the last two successive titles of the competition. Dhoni reckoned that there would be no hiding that the defending IPL champions are performing better.

Dhoni expressed hope that the Chennai Super Kings would have a better season next year in IPL 2027. The veteran, who didn’t feature in any of the encounters of the IPL 2026 due to injury, anticipates making a comeback in the next edition of the competition.

Watch MS Dhoni's comment on RCB's success-

“I always felt, you know, how good you are on paper hardly matters. How good you are on that particular day is something that is the most important. And the shorter the format, the narrower is the margin between the best of teams. And the last 2 years, we have struggled, and it is a fact.” Dhoni expressed in the interaction.

“That is how life is. You have good times, you have bad times, but you know how to come out of it, what things you want to work on as a team, those are crucial. Because you know, when we are winning, we know that there will come a point when we will start losing, and the real test of character is when you're not doing well.” He added.

The Ranchi-born also revealed that CSK would hope to keep themselves away from injuries and have most of the fit players available throughout the next season.

“It makes life slightly easier when people understand their role and responsibility. So we hope for another close one so that, you know, next time when we come over here, we can say that, okay, you know, 2027, we had another close game which was a lot of fun for the spectators.” The former Indian captain shed light.

“Because at the end of the day, we are entertainers, you know, we come over here and entertain. And another reason why we, as batsmen, why we all the batsmen love Bangalore is, you know, the ball travels over.” He concluded.

How RCB and CSK faced each other in IPL 2026: 250/3 and a 43-run win at Chinnaswamy

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and CSK faced each other once in the 2026 season of the IPL, which took place at the beginning of the event at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Bengaluru, while batting first, posted a massive score of 250 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

After the 37-run opening partnership between Virat Kohli and Philip Salt, Devdutt Padikkal smashed a superb knock of 50 runs off 29 balls with five boundaries and a pair of sixes. Along with Patidar’s 19-ball 48 runs, Tim David collected unbeaten 70 runs off 25 balls with three fours and eight sixes.
