Amid this news, star Indian cricketer Tilak Varma was in the spotlight for a special reason. After the match, Zimbabwe pacer Evans met Tilak and requested a special video message for his sister. Tilak, known for his humble nature, agreed and recorded the video.
Though he is not yet as famous as Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma has won the hearts of fans worldwide. The Mumbai Indians left-handed batter became popular after his Asia Cup 2025 performance. He is now playing the role of both an aggressive hitter and an anchor in the Indian batting lineup.

Tilak Varma Sends Special Video Message to Evans’ Sister
After the match against Zimbabwe, star Indian cricketer Tilak Varma was approached by Zimbabwe pacer Brad Evans for a special video message for his sister. Tilak, known for his humble nature, gladly agreed and recorded the message.
Evans said, “My sister is a very big fan of his, so she asked if she could get a video message from him.”
In the video, Tilak Varma said, “Hi Rebecca, thank you for being a big fan. It means a lot. Hope to see you when I am in Zimbabwe. I will meet you, and your brother is amazing. He has bowled really well, and I will see you very soon. Thanks once again.”
Evans added that his sister had been eagerly waiting for the message. “She actually messaged me only the other day asking for a message. She is going to be very embarrassed, but she has got the message now,” he said.
Tilak Varma’s Heroic Performance Against Zimbabwe
Tilak Varma played a quickfire innings for India, scoring 44 runs off just 16 balls at a strike rate of 275. Despite moving from his usual No. 3 spot to No. 6 due to the inclusion of Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya’s promotion up the order, Tilak remained strong and focused.
After a fast start from Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya scored a 23-ball 50. Varma remained unbeaten, hitting the bowlers hard and falling just six runs short of a half-century. He shared an 84-run partnership with Pandya in just 31 balls to take India to 256 in 20 overs.

Tilak Varma has been consistent in the T20 World Cup 2026, except for the South Africa match on February 22, where he scored just one run. In six matches, he has scored 151 runs at an average of 30.20, with a strike rate of 142.45. He has also bowled in one match against Pakistan, taking 1 wicket for 11 runs in two overs.
Brad Evans’ Performance
Brad Evans had a mixed performance in the tournament. He took eight wickets in three matches during the group stage. However, in the Super Eight stage, he managed only one wicket against West Indies and conceded 52 runs in four overs against India. Overall, Evans took nine wickets in five matches, with an economy rate of 9.49 and a strike rate of 12.00.
